Abstract

This study demonstrates that Raman scattering could be used as another analytical tool for tracing the ordering of the B-site cations. Results show that the correlation found between the Raman spectrum and the X-ray diffraction in PST is not accidental, although the Raman technique is mainly sensitive to static and dynamic local disorder while X-ray techniques give long-range statistic averaged information. Raman spectroscopy may be of special importance for those cases where X-ray techniques fail to indicate ordering, as for example, in Pb(Fe//0//. //5Ta//0//. //5)O//3.
