Abstract

The paper is concerned with the solution of steady three-dimensional laminar flow in axially-symmetrical pipes. The governing equations are parabolised in order to economise in computer time demands. The axial pressure gradient is estimated from integral mass conservation considerations. Mesh staggering is utilised to increase the stability and accuracy. The staggering is also utilised to enhance a novel treatment of the singularity of the equations, on the pipe axis. The solution is obtained by marching, utilizing and ADI scheme. Results for axisymmetrical and non axisymmetrical flows are presented. The axisymmetrical results show good agreement with previous ones.
