Abstract
An effect of polymers on vorticity of a fluid was offered as a possible explanation of turbulent drag reduction [Y. Rabin and B. J. A. Zielinska, Phys. Rev. Lett. 63, 512 (1989)]. We show that this effect is attributable to the increased viscosity due to the polymers. We note another effect that may be relevant for drag reduction.
