Abstract
A new phenomenon in the kinetics of a first-order phase transition, namely the nonmonotonic growth of a droplet is discussed. The growth of a new phase involves the release of latent heat near the surface of this phase. The physical picture is confirmed by both analytical calculations and numerical simulations.
