Abstract

The tablet from the Moussaieff Collection published in this paper is a list of year names of King Warad-Sîn of Larsa. It contains eleven of the fourteen known year names, and a.o. also the mu-malgium-basig year name. Thus it reopens the discussion about the name or names for Warad-Sîn's third and fourth years, and invites comment on the total length of his reign. The edition of the new tablet is followed by an in depth analysis of the new date list's composition, in particular in comparison with other date lists known for the reign of Warad-Sîn. The paper concludes with an investigation as to whether the choice of particular events for some of the earlier year names of Warad-Sîn, and their unique arrangement in the new date list were motivated by political considerations.
