Abstract

This communication concerns a derivation and study of necessary optimality conditions for production scheduling. The continuous‐time optimal control problem is stated for the analysis of extremal behaviour of a flexible flow shop. This is accomplished by means of the maximum principle, which is applied to the problem with irregular constraints and three typical forms of objective function.
