Abstract

Isolated solitary splenic metastasis from colorectal cancer origin is considered a rare entity due to its unique anatomical and histological structure. Few cases have been reported in the literature and in most of them, the spleen was affected by an isolated single metastasis. We report a case of metachronous isolated multiple splenic metastases from adenocarcinoma of the colon, two years after the diagnosis and surgery of the primary tumor, localized in the sigmoid colon. Following splenectomy, the patient chose not to undergo systemic chemotherapy. Seven years after splenectomy the patient is still free from disease. Multiple splenic metastases from colorectal origin is an extremely rare condition. Further research will hopefully be able to form stronger evidence regarding management of this entity.
