Abstract

The first chapter of the book provides a historical perspective to the study as it probes the shaping of Holocaust Remembrance Day media since the State of Israel’s formative era and up to the 1990s, via an analysis of the patterns of commemoration implemented by Israeli daily newspapers.¹ The print press was the dominant medium during the first three decades of Israel’s existence and it is the only medium that offers consecutive archival material, covering the state’s first six decades.
