Abstract

A group of binary oxide nanophase materials were prepared using a microwave assisted soft-chemical route. BaTiO3, Ba6Ti17O40, BaZrO3 and PbTiO3 were prepared from BaCl2 hydrate, Pb(Ac)2, Ti(OPr(i))4 and ZrOCl2. All reactions were performed in ethylene glycol, which acted as both a solvent and a growth regulating agent, under atmospheric pressure in a microwave reactor. The products that were obtained were analyzed by using XRD, TEM, XPS, EDX and FT-IR.
