Abstract
Magnetic filed guided formation of long carbon filaments was studied. The synthesis of carbon spherules (CSs) and carbon filaments (CFs) was carried out by introducing mesitylene into a 4 ml closed cell. The elemental composition of the CSs and CFs was measured by energy-dispersive X-ray analysis. It is observed that the magnetic field affects the longitudinal direction of the growth reflected in the formation of a long sausage.
