Abstract

The magnetic circular dichroism spectra of carbon tetrachloride in the vapor phase and of carbon tetrabromide and tetraiodide in cyclohexane solution have been investigated in the region of the nx → σ* valence transitions. Assignments have been made in terms of the transitions 1A11,3T2T2 (3t2 → 3a1) and 1A13ET2 (e → 3a1).
