Abstract

A new type of FMR lines in YIG films has been found. Although they are very weak in comparison with the main magnetostatic lines, they can easily be observed by using a standard E.S.R. spectrometer. The assignment of these lines is difficult because of the energy conservation requirement that apparently forbids their appearance. The conjectures that they represent phonons or impurities assisted excitations are discussed. Lineshape asymmetry is a remarkable feature of the new lines. It is very sensitive to the pumping power and can be observed even at very low input powers. The asymmetry is discussed in terms of lineshape asymmetry due to the nonlinear second order Suhl instability. The power dependence of an asymmetry parameter introduced by Pomyalov and Gorskii has been measured and compared with their theory.
