Abstract

Legisprudence – the legal field dedicated to studying the theory and practice of legislation –is an emerging subject in comparative law. This chapter discusses the need for comparative law scholars to focus more attention to the field of legislation, and for legisprudence scholars to adopt a more comparative perspective. It then introduces the field of comparative legisprudence. It discusses and compares major practices in lawmaking, as well as main themes in the field of comparative legisprudence. It concludes with offering directions for future development.
