Abstract
The theme of the scapegoat is at the centre of the work of Pierre Lasry, a Montreal Jewish novelist and filmmaker. After Shylock (National Film Board of Canada, 1999), Lasry depicts the Jewish writer launching his « emissary book » to the sea to America, to redeem an imperfect world, such as the high priest rushing the scapegoat into the desert.
