Abstract

Israel has made great strides in developing prepaid community health, specialized medical services, hospital, mental health geatric and other supportive services programs. National health insurance, along with rapidly increasing health care costs, serve to emphasize the importance of planning a balanced and rational health program to meet the needs of the 1980s. This will demand not only a continuing review of priorities, but also the development of new information and evaluation systems, as well as new efforts to meet the needs of an aging population, and of the poor. Much has been accomplished, but the challenges of unmet or unanticipated needs are still before us.
