Abstract

One of the most attractive areas in electrochemistry now relates to “rocking chair” type Li-ion batteries. Some main directions in the research and development in this field should be mentioned: (1) Improving of high voltage (more than 4V vs. Li/Li+) cathode materials for the batteries; (2) Development of new carbonaceous materials of high capacity for the anodes; (3) Investigation of suitable electrolyte systems. Among them are Li-ion conducting polymers and liquid electrolyte solutions.
