Abstract

Following the first gathering of the applied anthropology community in Israel in May 2005, where PA editor Jeanne Simonelli was our keynote speaker, the three of us agreed that the time had come for a second special issue of Practicing Anthropology. The first was published in the Spring of 1993 and represented the state of applied work in Israel at that time. On its cover was a fifties-era photo of Israeli anthropologist Phylis Palgi, the other keynote speaker at the May conference, with a youthful Margaret Mead.
