The 2nd Israeh International Conference on Hlgh-T¢ Superconductivity took place on January 4-7, 1993 in Eilat, Israel under the orgamzation of the Israeh Ministry of Science and Technology. It was sponsored by the French National Center for Research and Science (CNRS), the Italian Na-Uonal Research Council, the British Council, the US A~rforce, the European Office of Aerospace Research and Development (EOARD), the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Oren Family Chair of Experimental Solid State Physics, Tel-Aviv Umverslty In 1974 an international conference, "The Search for High-Temperature Superconductors", was held at Kfar Glladi in Israel (see reproduction of poster overleaf). One of the conclusions of that Conference was that until superconducting matenals above 60 K are found, there would be no wide-spread applications. Such a high critical temperature was then considered as attainable Discussions took place as to what potenUal applications would emerge if this should occur.
