Abstract

The spectrum of 8-keV (Cu K) x rays scattered from the series of elements Ni-Ge is found to contain in addition to the resonance Raman peak a low-energy plateau extending to below the lower limit of our measurements at 2.5 keV. These spectra are in good qualitative agreement with the recent H-atom calculation of Gavrila and co-workers which predict that at still lower energies the scattering cross section diverges.
