Abstract
A replacement is suggested to the common approach to stochastic problems of adding noise to deterministic systems. It is shown that a more realistic procedure is adding a deterministic force to random systems. Such a new approach is illustrated by the two examples of a linear force and a bistable potential. The correct asymptotic behaviour is obtained in the latter case, in contrast to the usual approach.
