Abstract

Aluminium alloys have been oxidatively infiltrated into SiC particulate that are coated with SiO2 or Al2O3. The influence of the coating has been examined on the silicon in the alloy channels of the composite, the residual silicon carbide content and the corrosion behaviour of the composite in moisture.
