Abstract

This article is a brief introduction to lithium-ion batteries. People may be curious about lithium-ion batteries because they have the same in their mobile phones, laptops, etc. Definitely, the 2019 Nobel Prize in Chemistry makes them more inquisitive. Therefore, this article depicts the basic concept of lithium-ion batteries, their diverse applications, and commercial prospects. Lithium-ion electrochemistry, including working principle, battery materials, challenges in real-life operations and their mitigation pathways, are vividly discussed herein.
