Abstract
A student experiment is described concerning measurements of high-temperature specific heat of metals. The strong non-linear increase of the specific heat of tungsten can be explained by formation of equilibrium vacancies in the crystal lattice. Accepting this hypothesis, the enthalpy and entropy of vacancy formation are obtainable.
