Abstract

It is essential to understand the historical context, when pursuing the deeper meaning of anyevent in history. The purpose of this article is to describe the historical background of the tensionand hatred between Babylonian and Palestinian Jewry in Talmudic Palestine, especially in the3rd century C. E. To our mind, a combination of different factors can explain this complexreality, in particular, geographical and strategic aspects interrelated with economic factors.
