Abstract
We present a kinetic Ising model for the cooperative dynamics associated with the relaxation of adsorbed polymer chains. At low temperatures, the chain molecules are frozen in nonequilibrium conformations. Over a range of temperatures the dynamics of relaxation are found to be described by stretched exponential (KWW) functions. Average relaxation times exhibit a strongly non-Arrhenius temperature dependence.
