Abstract
An unusual coordination mode is proposed for the furan ligand in the complex [(CO)4W(η4-Me2Fur)] (2; Me2Fur=2,5-dimethylfuran), which is produced by photolysis of a solution of [W(CO)6] in the presence of excess Me2Fur. The kinetics and activation parameters of its formation from the unstable precursor [(CO)5W(η1-Me2Fur)] (1) are measured by using time-resolved infrared absorption spectroscopy.
