Abstract

The fractional Fourier transform (FRT) operation is an important tool for various spatial filtering and signal processing applications. The FRT is a private case of the ABCD matrix. FRTs are interpreted based on propagation in graded index media and on Wigner distribution function. Both definitions are proven to be identical.
