Abstract
We observed a new behavior of vortex instabilities in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ crystals, namely a quasi-periodicmotion of the flux front separating the unstable vortex state from the thermodynamic vortex phase. These "flux waves"were shown to be a direct result of a unique defect pattern that characterizes Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ crystals grown by thefloating zone method.
