Abstract
A direct catalytic process was carried out at 1000 °C resulting in the formation of encapsulated MgCxCo3 in carbon nanoflasks. A continuous rise in the magnetization at high magnetic fields, indicating a superparamegnetic type of behavior was observed. The cobalt-containing nanoflasks showed a paramagnetic behavior due to the presence of cobalt in the fcc phase. The results offered a means to modify the process for the encapsulation of other materials.
