Abstract
1. 1. Interaction between paired electrical stimuli to the diffuse thalamic projection system at a rate of 8 pairs/sec is described. 2. 2. In the encéphale isolé preparation marked facilitation was found when the interval between the pairs was shorter than 25 msec; at longer intervals marked "inhibition" appeared. 3. 3. In the cerveau isolé preparation the facilitatory phase was diminished while the "inhibitory" phase was already present with pulse intervals of 10 msec. 4. 4. When the EEG was desynchronized by 100 pulse pairs/sec no facilitation could be detected. 5. 5. A neural mechanism explaining these findings is suggested.
