Abstract
Mastitis results in reduced quantity and quality of milk and the milk products. Total of Rs.1607.20 crores were estimated to be lost due to bovine mastitis in India (Singh and Singh, 1994). The factors associated with its occurrence include environment, genetics and nutrition (Radostits et al., 2000). The present paper reports the risk factors associated with occurrence of mastitis in cattle and buffalo in and around Ludhiana.
