Abstract
The Internet of Things (IoT) has revolutionized global connectivity by enabling seamless interaction between devices, enhancing efficiency and accessibility across multiple sectors. However, the rapid expansion of IoT networks has brought significant challenges, particularly in ensuring digital security. This necessitates the implementation of advanced measures to protect sensitive data from cyber threats and unauthorized access. This paper explores the pivotal issue of establishing trust within IoT ecosystems, highlighting the importance of comprehensive security strategies that include encryption, authentication, and data integrity verification. A notable focus is placed on mitigating vulnerabilities in web-connected IoT applications, which are frequently targeted by cyberattacks. Applications that prioritize personal safety, such as those featuring real-time location tracking, emergency notifications, and safety zone mapping, exemplify IoT's potential in critical scenarios. These solutions are further enhanced by features like voice-command capabilities and offline operation, ensuring continued functionality under challenging conditions. Additionally, integrating facial recognition technology enhances security by enabling accurate detection of unauthorized access. The study investigates advanced facial recognition methods, such as Local Binary Pattern Histograms (LBPH), Support Vector Machines (SVM), AdaBoost, and Haar Classifiers, to evaluate their effectiveness in strengthening IoT security. By addressing the convergence of IoT advancements and digital security, the research provides practical insights into addressing security gaps, fostering user trust, and building resilient IoT systems. These contributions support broader efforts to achieve sustainable digital security, promote global connectivity, and advance developmental goals.
