Abstract

In this paper we suggest a method of using optical wave polarization to carry information in optical fibre channels. The use of polarization increases the information capacity in the fibre. We show the effect of polarization mode dispersion on the method and the limitations it imposes. Concepts and considerations concerning implementation are also presented.
