Abstract
This paper covers the electrodeposition of very thin films of metal oxides on platinum and graphite to find an inexpensive method to prepare and characterize these thin films; the electrodeposition of metal oxides on semiconductor electrodes. Surface analyses, chemical analyses and electrochemical methods were employed to characterize the properties of the films and the deposition mechanisms. The results show that the electrodeposition of the metal oxides of Mn, Co, Ni on platinum and graphite from acetate aqueous solutions by anodic processes give smooth, compact, bright and conductive films of MnO//2, CoO(OH) and NiO(OH), respectively.
