Resumen: En 1492, debido a la expulsión de España, la mayoría de los judíos se dirigió al Imperio Otomano y al norte de África. Los sefardíes llevaron con ellos su lengua, que pronto evolucionaría al judeoespañol. En este trabajo se analizará el léxico judeoespañol que refleja el habla popular no estándar del castellano medieval y la conservación de éste mediante la escritura en letras hebreas en un documento de Esmirna (siglos XVIII-XIX). Comparando el léxico y otros rasgos del idioma sefardí con el español de América, se ofrecerá otra perspectiva sobre la teoría andalucista para el español de América. English Abstract: In 1492, after the Spanish Expulsion, most of the Jews settled in the Ottoman Empire and North Africa. The Sephardic Jews brought along with them their language that will soon become ‘Judeo-Spanish’ (Judezmo). In this paper the Judeo-Spanish lexicon of an 18th-19th century’s document from Izmir will be analyzed. This paper will demonstrate the non-standard variants from medieval Castilian that reflect popular speech and the conservation of these by using the Hebrew writing system. The comparison of the lexical items and other phonetic and morphophonological features can offer another perspective on the Andalusian theory concerning Latin American Spanish.
