Abstract
The first investigation of the characteristics of Israeli ultra-Orthodox community activists, the study examines the contribution of personal and social resources to the effectiveness of community activity serving community development. The sample comprised 163 volunteers active in promoting citizens rights through democratic processes. The variables predicting effectiveness are presented, along with practical recommendations for macro-intervention social workers in the field.
