Abstract

The effect of parameters such as spontaneous curvature and elastic constants of DNA on the conformational properties of the molecules was analyzed. DNA was modeled as a continuous filament which had bending and twist rigidity as well as spontaneous curvature. It was observed that formation of loop was strongly enhanced by the introduction of nonvanishing spontaneous curvature. It was also observed that two independent random distributions of spontaneous curvature gave essentially identical probability of cyclization. The results show that mean curvature determine the looping probability of DNA fragments.
