    Abstract

    The purpose of this article is to describe and briefly analyze the main empirical approaches, mutual relations, principal fields, characteristics, and the main findings appearing in the research literature which discuss the cooperation between the parents and the school. Furthermore after a detailed description of educational interventions an example is given of findings revealed in a study conducted on a workshop for parents together with the school educational staff, that was held to clarify the expectations and relationship between the parents and the school which revealed a positive effect in comparison to parents who did not participate in this form of workshop. Other interventions described in this paper include cooperation between parents and schools in preparation programs for military service, and programs designated to bridge cultural gaps among Ethiopian immigrants. Following, an analysis on the educational interventions is presented, the general aspects, implications on the curriculum and recommendations for future investigation are discussed.
