Abstract

A method of dynamic filtering, based on the electrooptic effect in periodically poled LiNbO3 (PPLN) was demonstrated. Dynamic gain equalizer prototypes of 6 or 12 electrooptically controlled filters were used. The devices showed low insertion loss and low parasitic effects. The equalization of the amplified spontaneous emission spectrum of an Erbium doped fiber amplifier was also demonstrated experimentally.
