Abstract

Using a classification of baryons and mesons in mixed representations of the non-chiral U(6) × U(6), it is shown that a simple construction analogous to duality diagrams reproduces all of the predictions of the duality diagrams for MM, MB and BB reactions (with some additional weakly allowed inelastic MB processes), but provides predictions for the energy dependence of BB amplitudes as well. The U(6) × U(6) formulation provides a natural interpretation for the application of "annihilation" criteria, accounting, for example, for stronger energy dependence in π-p than in π+p total cross sections, and predicting stronger energy dependence in pΣ+ (10 + 27) than in pΞ+ (27). Results are also given for multiparticle processes.
