Difference-frequency generation of optical radiation from two-color X-ray pulses

Abstract

We describe the process of difference-frequency generation of optical radiation from X-ray pulses. We find that the efficiency is orders of magnitude higher than similar effects, and highlight its potential application to probe atomic-scale structures.
