Abstract
This paper presents a low-cost low-profile compact waveguide-fed slotted antenna array with very low average sidelobe level (ASLL) in X-band. The desired current distribution on the antenna array's aperture is synthesized using Schelkunoff's unit circle technique combined with genetic algorithm technique. The antenna array design based on the synthesized current distribution is carried out using finite integration technique-based commercial EM simulator. The designed antenna is fabricated using a low-cost fabrication process. The measured results obtained are in good agreement with the simulated results. This work is extremely useful for the radar applications.
