Abstract

A survey was conducted on the current understanding of single molecule spectroscopy (SMS) in condensed phases. As such, the discussion revolved around features of SMS in terms of theoretical point of view, and for experimental aspects of SMS readers were referred to several excellent review articles as well as other articles in this issue. This paper explains several theoretical issues involved in SMS, and will make connections between theoretical concepts and experimental observations.
