Abstract
Large single crystals of V(PO3)3 were grown over the temperature range 400 to 600°C from a polymerized H3PO4 flux. The temperature dependence of the dielectric constant over the range 10 to 150°C is essentially flat with typical value of about 7. No thermal anomalies were detected over the temperature range -40 to 470°C. A specific heat of approximately 0.2 cal g-1C-1 was measured. A small optical second harmonic generation signal was detected and measurements indicate this compound is not phase matchable at 1.06 μm.
