Abstract

In the past decade, Israel has gone through a sequence of severe health and national security crises, which required advanced crisis communication and risk communication (CRC) strategies. This study explores CRC research in Israel since 2016. It covers the research output in terms of crises, publications, issues, and methodologies. It demonstrates not only progress but also lingering weaknesses and gaps between needs and knowledge, international and local research, and theory and practice. The survey begins with an analysis of the CRC research output including methodology and sources, a literature review, and findings from three major recent crises, both domestic and international. The study ends with a discussion of the findings and a few concluding remarks.
