Abstract
A student experiment on correlation analysis is described. The auto- and cross-correlation functions are determined for periodic signals and noise by means of the ScienceWorkshop data-acquisition system with the DataStudio software from PASCO Scientific. The experiment includes the recovery of periodic electric signals buried in noise and determination of the velocity of sound in air by the use of acoustic noise.
