Abstract
A focus on non-violent means for resolution of hostage taking incidents is suggested. Anderson's (1981; 1982) psychodynamics of everyday life provides detailed and operationalizable elements which are included in the schema: Blame = Culpa ⊗ Consequences. Guidelines for spokesmen of negotiating teams are proposed along with suggestions for research investigating the viability and effectiveness of this approach.
