Abstract
The sermons of late medieval Spanish preachers implemented various techniques which sought to combine doctrinal propaganda with the daily preoccupations of the masses. Impassioned preachers such as Pedro de Ollogoyen, Juan Martínez de Balbás, Ferrán Martínez, Pedro Sánchez, Vicente Ferrer, Alonso de Espina, Hernando de la Plaza, Juan de Santo Domingo or Antonio de la Peña, instigated public challenges and disputes, forcing Jews to attend sermons in churches, synagogues, and other public places which led to riots, considerable loss of life and damage to property.
