Abstract
To the Editor: This letter is in reference to Bonadonna's article on adjuvant chemotherapy in breast cancer, which appeared in the February 19 issue. I have followed Dr. Bonadonna's work in the past two years with great excitement. I hoped, and continue to hope, that adjuvant chemotherapy would be the first real dent in the mortality rate of breast cancer. However, in reading the details of his study I was quite disturbed to find that he did not do periodic routine bone scans unless the patient was symptomatic or a lesion became visible on x-ray study.
