Abstract

Diffusion of oxygen at room temperature in polycrystalline pellets and thin films of YBa2Cu3O7-x (123) is measured from the current decay at constant potential in an electrochemical cell with a liquid electrolyte, using 123 as the cathode. The effective chemical diffusion coefficient is found to be 10-11-10-12cm2/s, thus explaining the relatively facile movement of oxygen in such samples.
